What is PIPA?

PIPA is an inspection scheme set up by the inflatable play industry to ensure that inflatable equipment conforms to recognised safety standards. PIPA is co-ordinated by The Performance Textiles Association (MUTA), which is the United Kingdom's only Trade Association dedicates to the safety of marquees, tents, inflatables and structures, including manufacturing and the use of equipment.

The PIPA scheme is supported by the United Kingdom Health and Safety Executive, who were involved in PIPA development. All inflatable play equipment that falls within the scope of the PIPA scheme should be tagged and entered onto the database.

A PIPA tag means the equipment is:

  • Designed to a recognised standard based on safety
  • Tested by nationally qualified inspectors
  • Approved for commercial use

The PIPA scheme delivers:

  • Improved safety for users
  • HSE recognised best practice
  • Quality assurance
  • Certified initial test
  • Certified annual testing

PIPA has the support of:

  • Industry associations
  • Health and Safety Executive
  • Local authorities, event organisers and national businesses

Using equipment with a current PIPA certificate means you can be sure the equipment adheres to the highest safety standards.
